BookExpo America (BEA) is a big thing where a whole bunch of authors get together (this year it's in New York City) and you can go and get ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) of books that haven't come out yet. A lot of times, they have stuff in them that a normal copy won't and, and the cover art might not be final. The Thomaston Public library is having a trip to the BookExpo on Saturday, May 30. AND I'M GOING!!!!!!!! I have wanted to go to BookExpo for about 3 years now, but it's always been the same day as my dance recital. But this year my recital is on the 31st, so I can go to New York! I only know a few authors who will be there- Marissa Meyer, Gayle Forman, Rae Carson, Scott Westerfeld. (I'm really hoping that Rick Riordan, Kiera Cass, and Sarah J. Maas will be there too.) Also, some booktubers I am huge fans of will be there: xtinemay, katytastic, and jessethereader. I really hope I can meet them too. (Fingers crossed!) A few weeks ago, YallWest happened in Santa Monica, which is basically the west coast version of BEA, except it's all YA (young adult) novels. BEA has adult, teen, and children's books, featuring kids' authors such as Eoin Colfer (author of Artemis Fowl) and Sarah Mlynowski (author of Whatever After).
Alexandra Bracken is going to be there (I talked about her in my first post) with In the Afterlight, so even though I've already read it, I totally want a signed copy!!!! It's going to be awesome, and I can't wait. Only one month to go!
