What does one even talk about in a blog? This is my first time blogging, that's for sure. So I guess I'll just start by telling you a little about myself? So, I'm Jamie. I'm a super-reader. Literally. As of this minute, I'm reading The Enchantress Returns: Land of Stories book 2 by Chris Colfer. But by tomorrow, I'll probably be reading something else. Anyway... this website is about books. Obviously. If you didn't see that coming, I don't know where you were looking. Soooo, yeah. I have set up a quiz that matches your personality type with a book genre. I hope it works... but I don't know if it will. Fingers crossed, I guess. I'm trying to be all witty and cool but I'm probsbly just going to end up ranting about the Percy Jackson movies and how horrible they were and making really bad fandom-related puns. Just warning you. I didn't choose the fandom life. The fandom life told me to come to to 221B Baker Street if convenient, and if not convenient, come anyway. (Sorry, Sherlock reference.)
Okay, topic #1. Has anyone read These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner? Probably not. If you have, then a round of applause to you. It's not the most popular book yet- nothing like Divergent, Harry Potter, or The Hunger Games. So, quick summary: Large spaceship. (This book is set in the future fyi) The spaceship is called the Icarus. (Note: Icarus is a Greek mythological figure. He's the guy who had wings and flew too close to the sun, so they melted and he fell to his death. There's a Bastille song about him too...) Anyway, the ship is called Icarus. And true to it's name, it crashes. There's only two survivors: Major Tarver Merendensen and Miss Lilac LaRoux. So, Tarver is a war hero, one who's fought many intergalactic wars in his time. Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the galaxy, Roderick LaRoux, owner of the company who actually designed the Icarus. So, Tarver and Lilac manage to escape the ship as it is dying in a tiny evacuation pod. Sadly, they're the only ones onboard who do survive. Everyone else dies. After doing some scouting, they determine that they are on a planet similar to Earth. It's terraformed (so there's trees) and the air is safe. But there's no people on this planet, though it's very far along in the development stages. So Tarver and Lilac set off across this planet, venturing into the unknown. (I know, it's quite dramatic.) They want to get to the wreck of the Icarus, hoping that they'll fid rescue pods and a way home. So... that's the book. Well, the non-spoilery version. I would go on to rant about what I thought, but a) I want people to actually read this book, and b) everyone will think I'm insane (well, more than I am already) So, let's move on. (One last note though: THIS WOULD BE AN AWESOME MOVIE!!!!)

Topic #2. So another book I recently acquired was In The Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken. It's the last book in the Darkest Minds trilogy. THAT BOOK WAS AMAZING!!!!! I loved it so much but I'm not going to rant about it because it's book 3, but please go read it!!!! Book 1 is The Darkest Minds, book 2 is Never Fade, and obviously book 3 is In The Afterlight. That's all for now I guess... -Jamie :)
